Promoting Godly Marriages Part III- Adultery, Homosexuality, Verbal Abuse, and I Corinthians 6

“Or Do You Not Know That the Unrighteous Will Not Inherit the Kingdom of God”

1 Corinthians 6:9

In this third installment of Promoting Godly Marriages, we will be looking at Scriptures that put adultery, verbal abuse, fornication, and other sins on the same level as homosexuality in terms of sins that God hates. When we look at what the Bible says about “sins of abomination” and “sins that God hates,” we see that every sin you could commit is covered. There are some sins that are listed specifically and those that are not fall under at least one of the other named sins. I am sharing this information because these are perilous times. Marriages are being attacked, and there has been an overwhelming tendency for some of those proclaiming the faith to only point out those things that they see as “big sins” while dismissing the others that affect Godly relationships.

I Corinthians 6:9-10 on Sins God Hates

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Further, if we re-visit the passage in Proverbs that was covered in part one and part two of the series, we will see that all sins are really covered under those who devise wicked plans and those who feet are swift to commit wicked acts.

If we are to champion Godly marriages, we should stop lying, cheating, hoarding money, being deceitful, talking about our spouses behind their backs (gossiping), abusing our partners, and a host of other things to which we turn a blind eye. We must stay in constant awareness that we must workout our own faith in fear and trembling and continue to have a repentant heart.
